About The Readings

Our historic 3rd year.

Curated by Steve Goldberg and hosted by Nick Traenkner, the Literary Cafe Poetry Nights are held every second thursday of the month in the historic Literary Cafe in historic Tremont among a historic group of poets, painters, philosophers, engineers and amateurs. The poetry readings, part poetry showcase, part open mic, part poetic salon features two local poets and occasionally features national poets. Pads and pens are made available to everyone and everyone is encouraged (constantly encouraged) to write during the readings. Featured readings are followed by a brief thirty minute intermission after which ensues the now-famous poetry freeforall in which audience and featured poets are encouraged (again, constantly) to read what they've written during the evening. Poetry written at the readings can be submitted at the end of the night for inclusion in our annual chapbook. Special thanks to our spiritual advisor/grandfather Shawn Mishak.
